Amnesty International concerned over Lebanese prisoners
Lebanon, Politics, 12/1/1997
Amnesty International has expressed concern over the conditions of some 11 Lebanese prisoners arrested recently in the occupied area of south Lebanon.
In a statement circulated in Beirut, the human rights organization expressed fears that the prisoners might be exposed to tortures or abuses or to long term imprisonment without a trial.
The organization added that previous prisoners had disclosed that prisoners in Israeli jails undergo systematic torture and abuses including beating, whipping, electric shocks and dipping in hot and cold water.
