Terrorism in Algeria is decreasing
Algeria, Politics, 12/1/1997
Algerian Minister of Justice Mohammed Adami stated that terrorism in Algeria is constantly decreasing because of the elections and adherence to democracy. He stated that what is broadcast by the mass media is untrue and has nothing to do with reality. He also confirmed that the security situation in Algeria has entirely improved.
Yet what is going on now is that some of the terrorist parties who remain, although scattered, seek the media's attention through concentrating their attacks in particular remote areas.
Adami said that Algeria does not have a soldier to employ for the protection of each individiual citizen.
He also urged the media to concentrate on the Algerians refusal of all kinds of injustice, especially brutal actions aiming to take revenge on innocent civilians.
Adami stated as well that there is a strong link between terrorism and drug dealing, and that all of them aim to create instability in the country.
