Mrs. Mubarak carries out integrated plan to protect biological diversity in Egypt
Egypt, Science, 12/1/1997

The spouse of the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said that setting up the Egyptian Museum of Natural Life aims to preserve complete groups of plants, animals, and tiny organisms. Such a museum will help students, researchers and specialists in the fields of agriculture, medicine and industry.

Susan Mubarak mentioned that one of the important projects in this concern is setting up the National Gene Bank to preserve the genetic sources of the animals. She added that preserving environmental stability and balance is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Ignoring this necessity would harm the individual and the community as a whole as well as future generations.

Environmental policies are not given a marginal role and importance in the national programs and policies as they have become an inseparable part of any future plan, she said.
