Egypt, Politics, 11/29/1997
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa Friday called upon Iraq to abide by relevant UN resolutions. In a statement to reporters before heading to Zurich, Moussa said UN sanctions on Iraq will not be eternal, calling for a solution to the Baghdad - UN crisis.
He continued that the Iraqi problem should be dealt with in a way that preserves the rights of the people of Iraq. Earlier in the day Moussa reviewed with chairman of the Russian Communist Party Officials the Middle East peace process, Iraqi crisis development and a Russian role in this respect.
Following the meeting, the Russian chief said Russia wants to play a key role in the region through achieving a peaceful settlement in the region and indicated sound cooperation relations between the two countries, recalling the High Dam and the Helwan iron steel complex.
