Crisis of confidence as a result election results
Algeria-Algeria, Politics, 11/27/1997
It was another first in Algeria when the cabinet headed by Ahmed Abo Yahia was interrogated about the forgery in the local elections as was alleged by six political parties represented in the parliament. Another interrogation occurred about the attacks on the deputies of these parties on the day of voting.
In the parliament, the deputy of peace community movement Milod Ferian had presented the interrogation where he examined the incidents of the forgery, and asked for the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee.
The head of the parliamentary bloc of the peace community movement had stated that he is not expecting convincing answers form the governmentıs representative, accordingly, it will be necessary to from an investigation committee in order to fix the responsibilities of the elections forgery, yet he excluded that this will lead to cabinet's collapse in which his party is participating with seven ministers.
The head of the parliamentary bloc of the liberation front Ahmed Maamouni confirmed that if the council's members are not satisfied by the government's response, an investigation committee will be formed where recommendations will be submitted to the president.
That could lead to withdrawal of trust from the cabinet and formation of a parliamentary investigation committee if the opposition parties are not convinced by the declaration of the government's representative.
