Meguid criticizes Israeli policies
Regional, Politics, 11/26/1997

The secretary-general of the Arab League Esmat Abdul Meguid strongly criticized the policies pursued by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and described these policies as very far from the commitment to peace that has been agreed to by the Middle East parties concerned.

Addressing a symposium held at Asyout university in Egypt on "Arab common market and future of Arab economy" Dr. Abdul Meguid said Israel seeks to poison the peace atmosphere, destroy peace opportunities and bringing the Region back to the cycle of violence, tension and instability.

He underlined the significance of uniting all Arab ranks and strengthening the Arab regional order so that it is possible to stand-up to all forms of challenges the region encounters and other suspicious schemes which aim at undermining Arab interests and their national identity.
