Mubarak asks Britain to hand over extremists
Egypt, International, 11/25/1997
President Mubarak said that his country will ask Britain and other countries to hand over extremists accused of committing terrorist acts in Egypt. He added that if the world cooperated against Islamic militants the Luxor carnage would not have taken place.
Mubarak said that those extremists who were convicted of charges of terrorism and killing innocent people receive protection in countries like Britain. There, they collect funds and plan together with those fleeing to Afghanistan to carry out terrorist acts in Egypt.
President Mubarak denied any comparison between Egypt and Algeria, noting that Egypt has always had a strong government capable of maintaining security.
