Hebron: Arabs complain of harrassment from settlers
Palestine, Local, 11/25/1997

Complaints of Jewish settlers terrorizing Palestinians in Hebron were lately filed with both the Palestinian police and the Israeli army. In the city's center, home to some 400 Jewish settlers who have remained among the thousands of Palestinians living there, clashes were reported almost daily between the two sides.

Amer Abu Sneineh, a Palestinian confined to a wheelchair, said he was beaten up by a group of Jewish settlers living in Tal Rumeida, a hilltop towering the city center and heavily-guarded by Israeli soldiers.

Eyewitnesses said the settlers beat Amer up under the nose of Israeli troops stationed in the area. They said Amer was beaten up on all parts of his body until he fainted. They added that the Israeli soldiers who were in the area did not intervene at all.
