American aid program for Egyptian energy planning ends
Egypt, Business, 11/25/1997

After a working period of about 9 years, it was decided to end the project of "energy planning" in Egypt, financed by the American Aid Authority, in September of next year.

Engineer Mohammed Kamal, the executive manager of the project, clarified that the project started in 1989 and provided the necessary machines for about 30 Egyptian factories including 15 factories attached to the public-business sector at a cost of 26 million dollars.

He said that the program succeeded in providing a surplus of energy in these factories, in addition to training 6,000 Egyptian engineers in the use of energy planning systems.

A conference to evaluate the program's work will be organized during next December. It will be attended by oil and environmental affairs ministers, also an exhibition will be organized to present the latest in energy systems and energy planning.
