Israel prevents Palestinian from needed treatment
Palestine-Israel, Local, 11/21/1997

A Palestinian from the West Bank town of Jenin has been waiting for several months to receive a permit to leave the country but to no avail.

Mohammed Karam Nassar was a victim in a car accident which caused him chronic headaches. Only surgery either in Israel or in Jordan can solve his problem but every time he applied for a permit to leave, the Israeli military authorities had turned his application down. No details were given by Israel why the man was barred from traveling abroad other than the usual security pretexts that many Palestinians argue they do not exist at all.

Mohammed's case was brought to the immediate attention of Israeli defense minister through Arab Knesset member Saleh Salim but even that did not help at all. Relatives of Mohammed maintain that should the restriction continue, it might put Mohammed's life at stake.
