Hrawi stresses national unity - meets Azerbaijan's Hasanov

Lebanese President Elias Hrawi on Thursday expressed hope for the liberation of south Lebanon and the western Bekaa from the Israeli occupation.

Addressing education ministry senior officials and teachers at Baabda Presidential Palace on the occasion of Lebanon's flag day President Hrawi voiced his hope "to see the flag of Lebanon on every house in the area under the Israeli occupation on this day next year."

Meanwhile, President Hrawi discussed with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Hasan Hasanov means of reactivating bilateral relations in all fields and developments in the Middle East peace process. Following the meeting, Hasanov said that he delivered a message to President Hrawi from the Azeri President on bilateral relations and his country's support for Lebanon to liberate its occupied territories from the Israeli occupation.

Elsewhere, Chairman of the Foreign Committee at the Lebanese Parliament Dr. Ali al-Khalil said he holds Israel responsible for the collapse on the Middle East peace process as a result of the adverse practices of its Premier Benyamin Netanyahu and his refusal to abide by the principles of just and comprehensive peace in the region.

In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily Al Seyassah published on Thursday, Dr. al-Khalil demanded Israel's immediate and unconditional withdrawal from South Lebanon according to UN resolution 425. He warned against attempts made by certain Arab parties to legalize Israel's political and economic presence in the region.
