Cashier stole $22,000 US

A cashier of a public sector company in Alexandria confessed yesterday to stealing L.E 65,000 from the company's safe. After that the money was snatched by an unidentified motorist while the theif was on his way to deposit it at a downtown bank, a source at the prosecutor's office said.
The source said that the prosecutor detained Abdel Nabi Ahmed for 4 days pending further questioning after Abdel Nabi admitted to the theft.
Abdel Nabi claimed that the motive behind his crime was an urgent need for money which he refused to unveil, Al Ahram daily said today.
