Libyan-Egyptian talks about oil
Egypt-Libya, Economics, 11/20/1997

Mr. Hamdy El-Banby, the Egyptian minister of petroleum, left Cairo on his way to Libya where he will head a delegation to resume talks with his counterpart Abdalah Salem El-Badry the Libyan minister of oil.

The talks are to deal with supporting petroleum cooperation between the two countries and the best means of implementing the common projects which were agreed upon by the supreme committee headed by both Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Libyan President Moammar El Gaddafi.

These talks concentrate on establishing 2 pipelines -- one to transfer the pure oil from Libya to refineries in Alexandria to be used in the service stations established by Libya in Egypt and another to transfer Egyptian natural gas to Libya along the net which is being established in north Africa in order to export the gas to Italy and other European countries.
