Algerian court postpones judgment on eleven accused in killings of 7 Italians

Jijel state judiciary court in Algeria's northeast postponed the trial of eleven people accused in the assassination of 7 Italian sailors in 1994 to continue the investigation and give the victims' families the chance to have a fair trial.

The court refused the defense team's demands to release the defendants temporarily while it approved the prosecutor's continuance for extra time to do additional investigations. The first postponement of the court date was due to the absence of information related to the crime.

The assassination of the 7 Italian sailors in Jijel port in July 1994 was carried out by an armed group who killed them on their ship, "Luchiny," in Jijel port.
