Kuwaiti foreign minister in Beirut
Lebanon-Kuwait, Politics, 11/18/1997

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sabah Ahmed Sabah arrived yesterday in Beirut to clarify the reasons for the Kuwaiti participation in the Doha economic conference. Sabah will give president Elias Hrawi, today, a letter from the Kuwaiti prince, describing the latest developments in the area and explaining the Kuwaiti participation in the Doha conference.

"It is not against Lebanon nor against Syria. The circumstances have just driven Kuwait to attend the conference," Sabah said after arriving to the Beirut National Airport, where Foreign Minister Fares Boueiz and Kuwaiti ambassador Abdel-Razzak Kandari received him.

The Kuwaiti minister then headed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he held a meeting with Boueiz, concerning the latest developments in Iraq. Boueiz said, after the meeting, "We would like to see the UN Security Council deal with Israel with the same commitment and enthusiasm it has displayed in its confrontation with Iraq." Subah's visit comes as part of a tour to Egypt, Syria and Lebanon.
