UK to invite Arabs on Lockerbie trial, South Africa says
Regional, Politics, 11/17/1997
South African Foreign Minister Alfred Nezo yesterday quoted his British counterpart Robin Cook as saying Britain planned to invite Arab and African teams to assess Scotland as the venue for the Lockerbie bombing trial.
Nezo told reporters that Britain foreign secretary had discussed the issue with him at the commonwealth summit in Edinburgh last month.
"They plan to invite representatives of the Organization of African Unity, the Arab League and the United Nations to come to Scotland and see how free and fair that trial would be" Nezo said, Al Ahram reported.
