Jordan and Israel discussing establishment of a joint industrial
Jordan, Economics, 11/17/1997

Jordan and Israel are discussing their participation in joint industrial projects at the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) economic conference, which began yesterday in Doha.

The Israeli minister of commerce said that the Israel - Jordan talks in Doha will include discussions on establishing an industrial region near Irbid, which will exempt its products from custom duties when entering the American markets.

Last week an American delegation made a visit to Israel and Jordan and discussed together with the officials of the two countries the establishment of the Israel - Jordan industrial association where it was planned for its establishment near the bridge of "El-Sheikh Hussien," one of two bridges between Jordan and Israel.

Products from this region, which will include a number of clothing and textile factories, will enter the American markets without being subject to any customs duties.
