Arafat in India while Albright is there
Palestine, International, 11/17/1997
The Palestinian President Yasser Arafat will arrive in New Delhi next Wednesday on a four-day official visit during which he will meet with the Indian President Kochoril Raman, the Indian Prime Minister Kumar Gorgal and a number of Indian officials.
Arafat will discuss with the Indian officials the latest developments of the peace process in the Middle East in addition to the current development in the region such as the crisis between Iraq and the United Nations, the escalation of the Security Council resolutions against Iraq in response to Iraq's decision to expel the US investigators from entering the Iraqi territories.
Arafat's visit to New Delhi coincides with a visit by the US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to India. Political sources expect a meeting between Albright and Arafat in India. This is considered Arafat's second visit to India during the current year. The previous visit was last April during Arafat's participation in the opening session of the Foreign Ministers of the Non-Alignment Countries Conference.
