Islamic scholars ask Islamic countries to confront US and help Iraq
Regional, Religion, 11/15/1997
The most important Islamic scholars said that US threats against the Iraqi people are to be considered an insult to all Muslims in the world, which cannot continue without confronting them as per the Islamic jurisdiction.
Islamic history professor Dr. Ahmed Shalaby said that US aggression against Arab countries should be confronted through an Islamic-Arab coalition to defend Iraq, Palestine, Sudan, and Libya. Confrontation should begin with severing cultural, social, and political relations with the USA, come what may, even if the USA will stop financial aid.
The Dean of the Religious Fundamentals at Al Azhar University, Dr. Abdel Moaty Bayoumy, stated that the Islamic world stands with Iraq against US domination attempts and that the US is using the "new world order" to coerce the Islamic peoples one by one. He added that what the USA has done with Iraq exceeded all limits through starving its women and children and depriving Iraq from its resources.
The Dean of the Arabic Department at Al Azhar University, Dr. Saad Zalam, said that USA is the arch enemy of Islam, which is clear from its stances. He added that the USA is declaring policies and principles as pretexts to dominate Iraq.
The Egyptian Mufti (Religious Judge) Nasr Al Din Farid criticized the US practices against the Arabs and the Muslims and added that it is trying to impose its policies by force.
