Palestinian hospitals to have capability for open heart operations

The Palestinian Hospitals will carry out open heart operations for the first time in the Gaza Strip next January by Egyptian and Palestinian surgeons.

The Egyptian Ambassador to Palestine Mahmoud Karim stated that the operations will be carried out through the cooperation agreement between the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine in Egypt. He added that the cooperation agreement between the two sides includes sending Palestinian physicians and nurses to Egypt to receive training on the open heart operations at the Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine during the upcoming two months. While Egyptian doctors, and nurses together with the accompanying technicians will arrive next January in Gaza and will stay for three months in the Hospital of Shefaa.

The Egyptian Ambassador clarified that tens of Palestinian heart patients will benefit from these operations in addition to the experience offered by the Egyptian medical teams.
