Arab League boycotts Doha conference

The Arab League declared officially today that it will boycott the Middle East-North Africa (Mena) conference. The USA sponsors and will attend the conference, while Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco, Libya, and Algeria have stated that they will not participate in the conference.
Arab League spokesman Talaat Hamad stated that the decision of the secretary general of the Arab League, Dr. Esmat Abdel Meguid, to boycott the conference was based on the decision taken by the Arab Foreign Ministers in their session held on September 20 which linked the participation with a substantial and tangible progress in the peace process.
