A day in support of Algeria was sponsored in France by human rights groups, entertainers and others in order to protest the massacres that have claimed an estimated 60,000 lives in the past five years, ABC News reported. The Algerian government has repeatedly stated that it does not want outside intervention in what it considers to be an internal affair.
