Musicians and dancers in a pharaohnic tomb
Egypt, History, 11/11/1997
The Polish Archeological Mission headed by Dr. Karl Brifmesoles discovered a pharaohnic tomb in the area of Sakara south of Cairo. The tomb belongs to the Pharaohnic minister Prif Neb Af of the sixth dynasty, which ruled Egypt 4000 years ago.
The mission discovered the tomb in the western area to the Step Pyramid in Sakara. The tomb is one of the most magnificent tombs to be discovered recently, as it contains beautiful colors and unique pictures drawn on the walls.
Dr. Brifmesoles said that the front of the tomb has four lines of hieroglyphic inscription which identify the owner of the tomb. The burial chamber is 7 meters wide and 3 meters long which registers activities of the old Egyptian life. Two false doors were found in good condition.
One of the beautiful paintings depicts 3 lines of musicians playing harps; behind each two is a group of dancers.
