Al Watan asks journalists to condemn attack on press

In a new development in the case in which the Editor-in-Chief of the Al Watan Newspaper was arrested, Al Watan called on all the Algerian journalists to support the paper. The paper appealed to all the journalists to sign on a document condemning the attack on the freedom of the press in Algeria.

Al Watan had recently issued a statement in which it announced the disappearance of columnist Omar Bal Hoshat, who was later found in a police station for investigation that continued for more than 4 hours.

The columnist had commented on the statements of a member of the Labor Party and the parliament, Louisa Hanon, in which she placed the responsibility for the situation in Algeria on two generals, Mohamed Bashtein and Tawfik Madian.
