Egyptian medical mission to combat malaria in Sudan
Sudan-Sudan, Medicine, 11/7/1997

The Egyptian medical mission will start its official visit to Sudan next Saturday in order to combat and protect Egypt from the spread of malaria.

The deputy head of the Egyptian mission, Dr. Hussein Kamal, stated that the work will cover an area of 850 kilometers, 350 kilometers of which are in the Egyptian territories and the rest in northern Sudan.

The mission sent by the Egyptian Ministry of Health consists of 41 doctors whose work will continue for 4 days with a cost of L.E. 1.750 million ($600,000).

The head of the Sudanese mission accompanying the Egyptian mission, Dr. Abdel Karim Al Fakiah, confirmed that this visit comes within the medical protocol signed by the two countries and it also comes within the two countries' relations. He said that the visit aims to protect the peoples of the two countries, especially as 15% of the Sudanese people are attacked by malaria every year.
