Egypt exports $4 million worth of medicines to Iraq
Egypt-Iraq, Politics, 11/4/1997

Egypt will start sending urgent shipments of medicine worth $4 million to Iraq. Egyptian Minister of Population and Health Dr. Ismail Sallam stated that he met with his Iraqi counterpart and both agreed on the necessity of sending these shipments.

Sallam said that the Executive Office of the Arab Health Ministers decided to set up the Information Center of the Arab Medicines in Cairo. He added that all efforts are now directed at increasing Egyptian exports of medicines, due to their high quality and appropriate prices. Egyptian exports of medicines currently go mainly to the Arab, African and Commonwealth countries.

Egypt also decided to export 5,000 tons of rice to Iraq, worth $1.7 million, within the second phase of the oil-for-food agreement.
