Former French foreign minister to visit Beirut and Damascus

ArabicNews.com has learned that former French Foreign Minister De Charette will visit Lebanon and Syria on November 6 to participate in the French Book Fair. During his visit, he will talk about his new book, "Marshal Leotony," published by Lights.
De Charit informed the Lebanese and Syrian authorities--through the two countries' officials in France--of his visit, during which he will meet with officials in the two countries. He also informed the French Foreign Ministry and Presidency as he will visit Qana, which is famous as a site of massacres committed by the Israeli forces.
De Charit said that he had been in Lebanon when the massacre was committed, as he was one of the members of the delegation accompanying President Jacques Chirac visiting Lebanon to help in reaching a ceasefire in south Lebanon in 1996.
