British foreign minister to visit Cairo in mid November
Egypt, Politics, 10/31/1997
British Foreign Minister Robin Cook will arrive in Cairo mid November on a two-day visit during which he will meet with President Hosni Mubarak.
Cook will also hold discussions with his Egyptian counterpart Amr Moussa which will tackle the peace process and the European role in coordination with the American one to activate the peace process and to save it from the obstacles on all the tracks.
The discussions will also focus on the Israeli intransigence toward the resolutions of the Mediterranean-European Cooperation and Stability Charter which aims to push the peace process ahead. The two Foreign Ministers will also tackle the bilateral relations.
The British government informed Cairo that the proposal of the former Conservative government to form a Middle East Organization for Security and Cooperation similar to the European Organization for Security and Cooperation is not feasible at the present time. Former British Foreign Minister Malcolm Refkand's proposal last November caused many Arab protests.
