Extraordinary security measures taken

The central security council held an exceptional meeting, yesterday, to discuss the two explosions that occurred in less than 24 hours in Beirut. Minister of the Interior Michel Murr, who presided the session, said that the two incidents are obviously the work of the Israelis. He said that this assumption confirms the Israeli public security minister's statement that they will attack Lebanon from the inside.

The council opted for security measures that were immediately executed after the meeting. They included a day-and-night monitoring of the city, its suburbs and other areas of the country, through checkpoints of the army and the security forces. Murr urged the Lebanese people not to consider these measures a suppression of liberty, for they are set to ensure security.
