Syrian prime minister receives higher education secretaries

Syrian Prime Minister Mahmoud Al Zou'bi on October 28 received secretaries of the higher education council, participants in the symposium for conditions of appointing and promoting the academic staff at Arab universities.

Talks dealt with works of the symposium and means of strengthening cooperation and coordination between Arab universities to achieve common Arab interests.

The meeting was attended by the Syrian minister of higher education Dr. Salha Sankar.

Zou'bi also chaired a cabinet meeting during which works of the services and cultural committees were reviewed.

The cabinet ministers discussed general agricultural conditions, the cotton marketing process, ways of implementing winter crop plans and were satisfied with measures taken in this respect.

Also discussed were measures to boost the marketing of fruits and vegetables in foreign markets at required standards and suitable prices in order to reactivate and develop Syrian exports of fruits and vegetables for the interests of producers, exporters and the national economy. The ministers discussed the project of merging the two committees of reserve and mechanical bakeries and the project to set up a vets union.

The cabinet ministers discussed topics listed on the meeting's agenda and took appropriate resolutions concerning them.
