Britain is looking into the possibility that Gulf War Syndrome may be caused by the administration of unlicensed vaccines to British soldiers, according to a Nando Times report. Last week the US Pentagon found that documents pertaining to chemical weapons, which also may be linked to the disease, were not intentionally destroyed.

Mirroring markets around the world, many Middle East stock markets declined in yesterday's trading. Losses were reported in Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, according to a Voice of America report. The losses ranged between one and six percent, the report said. Declines began in southeast Asia and have affected markets in the United States and Europe as well.

Anti-influenza vaccine is now available for free for Palestinians who usually suffer from this disease, mainly in winter, Palestinian health sources said. The sources noted that the Health Ministry in the PNA had brought the vaccine and made it available for people, regardless of their ages, because of the high percentage of people expected to be affected by this disease in the coming few months.

Palestinian security forces arrested two Israelis who tried to smuggle amounts of marijuana into Hebron, sources in the city said. The sources added that Palestinian police stopped the car of the two Israelis at the entrance to the city, searched it and found at least two kilograms of the banned drug. The two were handed over to Israel.

The Israeli forces continued their series of attacks in south Lebanon, yesterday. In the morning, the area of Jabal Rafih was bombarded while the Israeli air force flew over Tyre and the western sector of the occupied strip. In the western sector also, an Israeli merkava tank launched eight cluster bombs on the hills of Jabal-Al-Daher and Dalafi, provoking fires in the area.

Canadian Foreign Minister Lloyd Axworthy will start in November a Middle East tour, including Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel. Radio Canada reported that Axworthy will explain during his visit to the leaders of the countries the circumstances of using fake Canadian passports in the attempt by Israeli Mossad agents to assassinate Hamas political leader Khaled Mishal in Amman.

In a meeting held on October 27 Israeli Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai renewed his government's intention to stay in South Lebanon, saying, "Hizbullah has recently scored direct hits against the Israeli army at a time when the Israeli army foiled a number of operations which targeted Israeli positions and military gatherings, so the situation in south Lebanon will remain unchanged unless the so-called security problems in the south of of Lebanon are solved."
