Israel plans to stay in south Lebanon
Lebanon, Military, 10/28/1997
In a meeting held on October 27 Israeli Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai renewed his government's intention to stay in South Lebanon, saying, "Hizbullah has recently scored direct hits against the Israeli army at a time when the Israeli army foiled a number of operations which targeted Israeli positions and military gatherings, so the situation in south Lebanon will remain unchanged unless the so-called security problems in the south of of Lebanon are solved."
