Yemeni president meets with Egyptian foreign minister in Cairo

Yemeni President Ali Abdalla Saleh met today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa before leaving Cairo today. The meeting was attended by Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Abdel Karim Al Eriani.
After the meeting, Moussa stated that the discussion dealt with bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East in addition to some of the issues of mutual interest to the two countries and to the Arab world.
Regarding what the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat said concerning a European Commission's initiative to push the peace process forward, Moussa commented by saying that Egypt welcomes the European role if it will save the peace process. He added that the European role is necessary and that Egypt will receive the British Foreign Minister Robin Cook and the Foreign Minister of Luxembourg to discuss the role of the European Commission.
Moussa also said that he invited European Envoy to the Peace Process Miguel Moratinos, who is currently in the region to hold talks in Cairo. Egypt is also looking forward to the visit of the French Foreign Minister Ibier Federine next month in order to discuss all the European plans for the peace process from all the European countries.
