On Sunday Nelson Mandela renewed his call for two Libyan suspects in the 1988 bombing of a Pan Am jet over Lockerbie, Scotland to be tried in a neutral country, according to a Miami Herald report. Mandela visited Libya last week where he made a similar call. Go

Japan and the Palestine National Authority signed an agreement by which the former would provide some US $17.5 million for building new schools in the Gaza Strip. Go

The Austrian Federal Council called on October 26 for an international initiative by world parliaments to secure the release of more than 600 Kuwaiti prisoners imprisoned in Iraq for more than seven years. The proposal was made in the last day of talks in Austria between Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation and the Austrian Federal council. Go

Italian President Luigi Scalfaro will visit Lebanon next month, an official source stated in Beirut on October 26. The statement issued by the Lebanese presidency said that the Italian president will lead an official delegation to Lebanon on November 5-8. Go
