Palestinian group tries to put an end to home demolitions
Palestine-Israel, Judicial, 10/27/1997

Palestinian legal circles have called on the Israeli Supreme Council to cancel all authority given to the Israeli military troops to demolish houses of Palestinians suspected of security offenses.

The Palestinian Association for the Protection of Human Rights and Environment appealed to the Supreme Court against the 1945 British Mandatory Regulations that had been used by the Israeli military government against the Palestinians, first in the pre-1967 Israel in the Galilee and the Triangle and later after the June 1967 war against the Palestinians in the Occupied Gaza Strip and West Bank.

The appeal dealt specifically with houses of four Palestinian families in the village of Assira Ash-Shamaliya near Nablus whose four sons were suspected by Israel of being the suicide bombers who blew themselves up in West Jerusalem two months ago.
