Regional, Business, 10/25/1997
The Arab Institution for Insuring Investment announced that it is setting up investment projects in 4 Arab countries: Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Egypt, and Oman.
The first project is a private internal airline company in Sudan with one 127-X plane. The company was already set up and the licenses were issued by the concerned Sudanese authorities. According to the initial studies, the cost of the project is expected to be about $2.5 million while the annual profits are expected to reach $166,000 in the first year and grow to $300 million by the fourth year.
The second project, which is in Saudi Arabia, is a factory which will produce polycarbonate layers--transparent solid layers that could replace glass and plastic for use in buildings, electric supplies and cars. The factory will produce about 120 thousand tons per year, though the Gulf market's needs are estimated at 6 thousand tons and the needs of the export markets are estimated at 35 thousand tons. The cost of the project is expected to reach $90 million without the price of the project's land.
The third project is a factory in Egypt which is to produce polyester layers used in manufacturing fiberglass and artificial marble. The cost of the project is expected to be $2.4 million.
The fourth project will be a sheep farm in Oman at a cost of 44.2 million Omani riyals.
