Khartoum seeking chemical weapons
Sudan, Military, 10/25/1997
The French Strategic Bulletin reported that Khartoum's government is currently trying to get access to chemical weapons.
The bulletin said that the National Islamic Front regime has received technical assistance from Russia, Bulgaria, Iraq and Iran. It said the program is carried out at security headquarters in Kafuri, to the north of Khartoum.
The bulletin said that Brigadier Generals Bakri Hassan Saleh and Immad Hussien and Captain Zaatan are supervising this project, and that the Sudanese opposition is endeavoring to raise the issue to the United Nations Security Council in an effort to force the government to abandon this program, Al Khartoum reported.
