Netanyahu forgot what it means to be a human being
Israel, Politics, 10/25/1997
Remarks by Israeli P.M Benjamin Netanyahu during a religious service earlier this week raised a furor among Israeli left wing opposition, an Associated Press report said. Netanyahu, unaware that his remarks to Rabbi Yitzhak Kadouri during a synagogue service were being recorded, accused his leftist opponents in the labor-led alliance of forgetting "what it means to be Jewish."
Within hours, the Likud prime minister's remarks were top news on Israeli T.V and radio stations. The left parties were enraged. Labor party leader Ehud Barak said Netanyahu was a "disgrace to us all" while Mertez leader Yossi Sarid described him as "a despicable man-who has long forgotten what it means to be a human being," Al Ahrar daily said today.
