US fails to further choke Iraq as latter calls on Saudis' help
Iraq-Saudi Arabia, Judicial, 10/24/1997

Iraq condemned the latest UN Security Council actions as unjust efforts to isolate it further. The US and Britain pushed for but failed to win the support required for new sanctions, so a watered down version was adopted, threatening to prevent travel of some Iraqi officials, without specifying who these officials will be or the criteria, if these officials intervened in preventing UN weapons inspection.

The implementation is supposed to be delayed till next year. Iraq has repeatedly insisted that it has met all the requirements set forth by the UN in its embargo, and that the embargo must be lifted.

In other news, The Iraqis have reportedly requested that Saudi Arabia improve its relations with the Iraq. This relation was badly damaged as a result of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait and the pursuant Gulf War.

Also, Iraq has accused Turkey and Iran of in internal meddling in its northern territories, and said that Turkey is acting as a foreign agent to outside countries.
