US official visits the Middle East to discuss its problems
Egypt, Politics, 10/23/1997
The US Undersecretary of State Ambassador Martin Indek will arrive in Cairo next Tuesday within his week-long tour of the Middle East, which also includes visits to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Yemen.
This is Indek's first visit since he started performing the duties of his new position last week. Indek will try to identify the key issues of the Middle East and the circumstances which the region is passing through. He will also focus on the obstacles to the peace process, which tops his responsibilities.
The US official is expected to meet with numerous officials in these countries. During his visit Indek will also try to identify means of pushing the peace process ahead after the recent visit of the US secretary of state to the region.
