Israel releases 29 Egyptians
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 10/23/1997

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa received a report from the Egyptian Ambassador in Israel, Mohamed Bassiouni, in which the latter informed him that the Israeli authorities released 29 Egyptians in preparation for their return to Egypt through the checkpoint of Rafah. The Egyptians were arrested 3 days ago for working illegally in Israel.

The Egyptian ambassador's report stated that the Egyptian Consul General in Israel visited the arrested Egyptians and made sure that they received good treatment from the Israeli authorities and that their investigations were done in a legal way.

Meanwhile a new department of the Foreign Ministry in Egypt started its work to advise Egyptians before their travel abroad, including those traveling to Israel in order to advise them on being cautious of swindling operations.

Meanwhile the Criminal Court in Cairo renewed the imprisonment order of the Egyptian citizen Samir Osman for another 45 days. Osman is charged with spying for Israeli intelligence.
