Masri: I will not go to Mena summit
Palestine, Local, 10/23/1997

A leading Palestinian businessman said he won't attend the Doha International Economic Conference in Qatar though he had already received the invitation.

Munib Al-Masri, blamed the current political situation for his decision and said he would not go as long as the political issues are suspended without any solution and as long as Israel refuses to implement the interim agreements of the Oslo Accords.

Masri said that Israeli settlement activities are still going on and said that the Middle East North Africa economic conference (Mena) in Doha has slim chances of success because political issues are more important and need to be addressed before any talk on economic cooperation.

Masri, a member of the Jerusalem Fund Board of Directors, said the board is in the process of discussing four important projects in the housing sector in Jerusalem, hoping the implementation will start before the end of this year.
