Second Palestinian dies after gun attack
Lebanon-Palestine, Local, 10/23/1997

A former Palestinian guerrilla and a relative of Palestinian terrorist Abu Nidal who on Monday was shot with his brother in Beirut has died of his wounds, it was announced Wednesday.

Security sources said Nasereddine Banna died in a hospital. His brother Omar died instantly when two unidentified gunmen opened fire on their car with silencer-equipped pistols in broad daylight.

The sources said the two were members of the Fatah Revolutionary Council led by guerrilla leader Sabri Banna, or Abu Nidal, who is wanted by international intelligence agencies for allegedly carrying out attacks on Israeli and western targets.

But Prosecutor General Adnan Addoum said Wednesday initial investigations showed that the slain men were relatives of Abu Nidal but had quit his group and arrived in Lebanon from Libya ten months ago.

The two brothers have been selling vegetables in a Beirut market since arriving in Lebanon, the security sources said.
