Jordan allows Christian students to get religious lessons

The Jordanian Ministry of Education will start giving its Christian students Christian religious lessons as of November. The Ministry of Education will use the books used in Christian schools in Syria.

The General Director of the Jordanian Ministry of Education stated that Christian religious classes will be held in some schools where there is a great number of Christian students as an experiment which will be generalized on the schools of all regions of Jordan.

Teaching the Christian religion will start at the private Christian schools once a week on Thursday as of next month. The General Director added that statistics showed that the number of Christians students decreases in the government schools in the primary stage because the Christian schools in Jordan are mainly primary schools, while the number increases in the government secondary schools.
