Seven-country Arab delegation in Cairo after visiting Libya
Libya, Politics, 10/22/1997
A diplomatic delegation comprising officials from 7 Arab countries arrived in Cairo after it ended its visit to Libya during which it held discussions with Libyan Leader Moammar Gaddafi, which focused on the Lockerbie crisis.
The delegation entered Libya by land through Cairo last Thursday in compliance with the UN resolutions of the air embargo on Libya. The delegation visited the factory which was set up to provide medicines for Libya and other Arab countries.
The USA had accused Libya of using this factory to produce chemical weapons. The factory was subjected to an arson in 1990 upon which Libya accused the CIA agents of masterminding the fire. The factory was reestablished later by the Libyan authorities.
