12 hours leave for murderer of Arab workers
Palestine, Local, 10/21/1997
Ami Popper, the Israeli right wing activist who shot dead 7 Arab workers and injured ten others on 20 May 1990, was accorded a 12 hour leave from his prison, where he is serving seven life sentences for his crime.
His leave was the first since he was arrested but still the Israeli prison authorities in the past had allowed him to get married to an extreme right wing activist who immigrated to Israel from Canada, where she was a leading member of Kach movement, a radical terror group linked to the Rabbi Meir Kahane's Jewish Defense League.
Kahane was shot dead some years ago in New York. Popper has also been allowed to have sex with his wife in prison and has since then had two children, one two years old and one eight months.
