Libya requests Washington not to interfere in International Court of Justice
Libya, Politics, 10/21/1997

Libya called on the USA not to interfere in the work of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which is currently studying the Lockerbie case.

Libya said that the US should leave the ICJ to carry out its work in peace in order to issue its ruling according to its own just laws, and that it should not be under the influence of any party involved in the crisis. The Libyan statement said that the ICJ is known for integrity and efficacy.

Libya stated that US stubbornness will only lead to more complications, as it has become clear to everybody that the US administration is using this case to achieve cheap political aims.

Libyan sources stated today that Libya sent letters to the families of the 270 persons who were killed in the plane explosion over Lockerbie in Scotland on December 21, 1988 in which it offered to settle the problem with them.

Britain and the USA accused two Libyan citizens of being involved in this explosion while Libya refused to hand the two to Washington or London.
