Father burns daughter

A farmer in Qena upper Egypt to burning his unmarried 17-year-old daughter to death after finding out she was three months pregnant, a police source said yesterday.
The source, who asked not be identified, said that Abdullah Ibrahim Mohamed admitted tying his daughter, Nenaah, with a nylon rope and then pouring petrol on her body before setting her ablaze to avenge her carrying an illegitimate baby.
Source said police referred Abdullah to Qena prosecutor, who ordered his detention for four days pending further inquiries, Al Hawadeth weekly said today.
