Hariri in Damascus yesterday and Armenia today
Lebanon, Politics, 10/20/1997
Prime minister Rafik Hariri is visiting Armenia today, after his trip to Damascus yesterday. Hariri, accompanied by a number of ministers and Armenian deputies, is planning to stay there for several hours and meet the Armenian president and officials. The discussion will center around the ways to develop the political and economical cooperation between the two countries.
Sources expected that tomorrow's exceptional cabinet meeting, scheduled to study the new proposals concerning the municipal and mayoral elections, proposed by the minister of interior Michel Murr, would be postponed for this reason.
Meanwhile, the prime minister met with the Syrian vice-president Abdel-Halim Khaddam, Prime Minister Mahmood El-Zoghbi and the head of the general staff, Hikmat Shahabi, in his residence in Damascus. The discussions centered around the developments in the area.
