Egyptian ambassador confirms the continuation of Israeli harassment
Egypt, Politics, 10/20/1997

Egyptian diplomatic sources stated that the Egyptian Ambassador in Tel Aviv Mohamed Bassiouni is still subjected to harassment from Israeli extremists.

In a report that he submitted to the Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa, the Egyptian Ambassador in Israel said that the Israeli harassment of the Egyptian mission has not stopped and that the Israeli government is not committed to its promises regarding stopping such harassment.

The report also mentioned that Tel Aviv ignored Cairošs protests last month. The Egyptian embassy had been subjected to severe provocation last month in the form of demonstrations organized by the extremists during which they repeated antagonistic slogans against Egypt. The Israeli authorities had searched the Egyptian Ambassadoršs car at the Border check point of Rafah, thus violating the Vienna Agreement of diplomatic immunity.
